When it comes to unexpected sources of electric motorcycles, Nepal might not be the first place that comes to mind. However, this is where the innovative Project Zero concept originates as it moves closer to becoming a reality. Yatri Motorcycles has been diligently developing its electric café racer for some time now, and enthusiasts interested in eco-friendly transportation will be glad to learn about its progress.
Yatri Motorcycles, based in Kathmandu, explains their design philosophy for Project Zero as “Elegance in Motion,” combining the classic cafe racer proportions with a sleek and modern design. The company aims to attract not only environmentalists but also those seeking an inspiring and unique product.
This electric motorcycle features a Chromoly steel trellis frame, providing a balance of lightness and durability. It is equipped with 43-mm RCP adjustable upside-down forks at the front and an RC adjustable mono-shock at the rear. Additionally, both of its aluminum rims come with CNC machined hubs and Brembo brakes.
To complement its emissions-free operation, Yatri Motorcycles has integrated a 7-inch TFT dash system into Project Zero. This high-contrast display ensures excellent visibility under various conditions. Modern features such as keyless activation, advanced sensors, and 4G connectivity are included, enabling the motorcycle to receive over-the-air updates for continuous performance improvements.
The manufacturer highlights the integrated taillight on Project Zero, which changes colors to communicate different statuses. For instance, flashing yellow edges indicate the turning direction, while green may indicate a full charge. Powering the 64-horsepower electric motor of the Project Zero is an 8.0 kWh battery pack, providing an impressive range of 143 miles on a full charge.
