Windstar Cruises offers an intimate sailing experience for only 148 to 342 guests, delivering top-notch service and a luxurious private yacht ambiance. Recently, the small cruise line revealed a special culinary collaboration with the renowned James Beard Foundation on selected 2022 voyages.
Based in the United States, Windstar Cruises has affirmed its position as the official cruise partner of the nonprofit culinary organization dedicated to honoring, encouraging, and celebrating the individuals shaping America’s culinary landscape. The partnership seamlessly blends exceptional cuisine with the cruise line’s dedication to offering fresh and locally sourced gourmet experiences to its passengers as they explore various destinations around the globe.
For the past five years, Windstar Cruises and the James Beard Foundation have united to offer travelers exclusive and unforgettable culinary journeys. This new agreement spans until 2025 and will feature three distinct themed cruises each year led by a chef affiliated with the James Beard Foundation starting in 2022.
Christopher Prelog, Windstar President, noted, “The long-term collaboration is an outcome of the success of our distinctive travel and culinary program, where top culinary talents are selected to enlighten travelers with diverse global cuisines and introduce exclusive recipes on voyages aboard Windstar’s elegant fleet of six yachts.”
These special cruises may encompass activities such as shore excursions for culinary-themed shopping, chef-led cooking demonstrations, and curated four-course dinners. The chefs will share their recipes for the cruise, adding their creations to Windstar’s menus fleet-wide and across various sailing destinations. The partnership will entail a range of events, joint marketing initiatives, and sponsorship of the James Beard Awards in 2021.
Kris Moon, President, and COO of the James Beard Foundation expressed, “After spending significant time dining at home, we eagerly anticipate traveling to relish the finest culinary offerings the world has to offer. We are delighted to continue our alliance with Windstar, enabling us to pair James Beard Foundation-affiliated chefs with sailings to some of the most exquisite destinations worldwide.”
Windstar Cruises is resuming its operations in a phased approach, with vaccination requirements for guests and crew alongside a comprehensive set of health and safety measures. Currently, four of the line’s six yachts are cruising once again.
