Rarely do guests get the chance to enjoy a private elevator leading to their hotel room, but that’s just one of the exclusive perks at Les Suites At The Cliff Bay in Madeira. Perched atop a natural promontory near Pirates Bay, this luxury hotel offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Renovated three years ago and part of the esteemed PortoBay Hotels & Resorts group, this 5-star retreat consists of 200 rooms with stunning views and luxurious amenities. Just a quick 15-minute walk from Funchal, the capital of the island, it’s an ideal sanctuary for discerning travelers.
Our two-story duplex, number 63, was elegantly decorated with natural materials like polished wood and wool, accented with art deco touches. The cozy living room featured a comfortable sofa, armchairs, a TV with over 120 channels, and a selection of books in various languages. Two balconies offered sweeping views of the lush surroundings and the sea. The bathroom, adorned with marbled tiles, featured premium Bulgari toiletries, while the spacious bed promised peaceful nights.
Dining at Avista restaurant, known for its panoramic views of Funchal bay, was a culinary delight. We enjoyed a variety of expertly prepared dishes by the skilled chef and tried cocktails from a wide beverage menu. The friendly staff, including our attentive server Danusia Inty and restaurant manager Kyrylo Vasylyev, ensured our dining experience was exceptional.
The property boasts a variety of dining options, sports facilities, and recreational activities, including numerous swimming pools, a tennis court, and fully-equipped gyms. We treated ourselves to a couples’ spa session, enjoying a luxurious bath, full-body massage, and stunning views of the cliffs and cityscape.
My favorite spot was the Infinity Pool Bar, where I soaked in breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Funchal. A short stroll took me to the Museum of Modern Art of Madeira (MAMMA), a vibrant cultural center showcasing diverse artworks and hosting musical performances.
Our stay at Les Suites At The Cliff Bay was truly memorable, thanks to the luxurious accommodations, exceptional dining experiences, and captivating views. Madeira is waiting to be explored as a heavenly destination.
