We recently visited Voodoo Bayou, a New Orleans-inspired restaurant located in Palm Beach Gardens that offers authentic southern Cajun cooking. Executive Sous Chef Jim Furci, who worked in the information technology industry for over two decades before becoming a chef, helms the kitchen. The restaurant’s two-story bar area features a Gothic-inspired design with cathedral-style stained glass windows, and the open kitchen offers a display of showstopping culinary talent at work.
During our visit, we tried the seafood-based specialties of Voodoo Bayou, including their signature Jambalaya and creamy Cajun carbonara. The presentation of the Jambalaya in an enameled cast iron pot is worthy of mention, while the carbonara’s blend of rigatoni, smoked pork belly, Grana Padano cheese, and cured egg yolk was delicious.

The restaurant’s appetizers are also a must-try, including their signature hickory-smoked chicken wings and their life-changing, fried green tomato BLT. Their cocktails also offer fun names like Style in Havana or Fortunate Son. The creamy Bourbon Milk Punch was the perfect after-dinner drink and capped off an unforgettable dining experience. Voodoo Bayou has plans to open additional locations in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, so keep an eye out for more southern-inspired cuisine.
