Looking to drive McLaren’s most aggressive Super Series car? Be prepared to spend big.
The 2021 McLaren 765LT comes with a price tag of around $360,000, not including extra costs, and availability is limited.
McLaren has already filled its production quota for the 765LT but is still receiving inquiries from interested buyers. There may be a convertible version of the 765LT in the works, although it has not been officially confirmed.
As the most powerful Longtail model, the 765LT boasts a 4.0-liter V8 engine with twin-turbochargers, a flat-plane crankshaft, and dry-sump lubrication.
Generating 562kW of power at 7500rpm and 800Nm of torque at 5500rpm, it is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This represents a boost of 32kW and 30Nm compared to the 720S, with enhancements like forged aluminum pistons and a three-layer head gasket borrowed from the McLaren Senna.
Weighing in at 1339kg, 80kg lighter than the 720S, the 765LT can sprint from 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds and reach 0-200km/h in just 7.0 seconds, with a top speed of 330km/h.
Staying true to its Longtail heritage, McLaren has prioritized weight reduction by incorporating features like thinner glass, a titanium exhaust system that’s 40% lighter than standard, and carbon fiber components both inside and out.
The 765LT is heavily infused with carbon fiber, from the front splitter and bumpers to the rear bumper and diffuser. Even details like the front license plate holder and aluminum body parts can be swapped for carbon fiber for an additional weight reduction.
Certain luxuries like the air-conditioning and stereo systems have been removed to save weight, but can be added back at no extra charge if desired.
The front seats, dressed in Alcantara, consist of a carbon fiber shell, saving 18kg compared to those in the 720S. Alternatively, even lighter carbon fiber seats from the Senna are available as an option.
Enhancements over the 720S include LT-specific dampers, lighter suspension springs, improved steering, and a stiffer torsion bar. The 765LT features a lower front ride height, widened front track, and longer nose, resulting in quicker in-gear acceleration and greater aerodynamic downforce.
While the 765LT comes stripped down by default, McLaren offers various customization options, ranging from sound systems to technology packages. Buyers can opt for additional features like a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, a surround-view camera, and an MSO Defined roof scoop for extra powertrain cooling.
Additionally, the 765LT is eligible for a McLaren Extended Warranty, allowing coverage to be extended for up to 12 years from the original purchase date.
