The idea of “glamping” has recently evolved to provide campers with a more high-end outdoor experience fused with a touch of luxury.
If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of glamorous camping, Huttopia Southern Maine is an excellent place to explore this style.
While you can still relish traditional camping activities like roasting s’mores or hiking on nature trails, the real highlight is the overnight experience. This French-inspired woodland retreat offers various lodging options, including wooden and canvas tents, as well as Vista tiny homes.
Situated just a short distance from Kennebunkport, Huttopia caters to families and couples, with accommodations that can accommodate up to six individuals. They also provide pet-friendly lodging, so your furry companions can join in on the fun.
During our stay, we opted for a pet-friendly Vista tiny home equipped with two bedrooms and a full bathroom. This cozy dwelling can host up to five guests and features modern amenities such as electricity, a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, and a two-burner cooktop.
One of the standout features of our accommodation was the screened-in front porch, where we savored our morning coffee and evening drinks while soaking in the serene surroundings. Although the Vista home doesn’t have air conditioning, the sliding doors can be opened, allowing for a pleasant breeze while keeping bugs out with the screens.
On-site, there is a Camp Store offering snacks, local microbrews, French wines, and mementos to commemorate your stay. Instead of cooking in our cabin, we tried out The Café/Bistro, where you can savor freshly made pizzas and salads alongside a cold draft beer or glass of wine.
For breakfast, don’t miss their renowned French crepes or grab a fresh smoothie to go. The café also serves an array of specialty coffees like lattes, Americanos, cappuccinos, and espressos made to order.
The property boasts a plethora of activities, ensuring you have plenty to do without leaving the grounds. Take a dip in the heated pool, rent a canoe or paddleboard on Sand Pond, engage in a yoga session, play foosball or board games in the Lodge with the kids, or simply unwind and relish your lodging.
If you wish to venture beyond the campsite, the nearby coastal towns of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are approximately 13 miles away and well worth a visit. For hiking enthusiasts, Grover Herrick Conservation Area is a mere 2.2 miles from Huttopia and offers a one-mile loop, while Bauneg Beg Mountain Conservation Area is under two miles away with a two-mile loop trail.
Founded in Lyon, France in 1999, Huttopia now boasts over 60 properties across Europe and three in North America.
