The Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort situated in Maui, has strengthened its reputation as a top culinary hotspot in Hawaii with the renovation of five dining venues. Among these are the refreshed Botero Lounge, Olivine, an Italian restaurant led by Executive Chef Ryan Urig, and the acclaimed seafood establishment, Humuhumunukunukuapua’a.
Continuing its culinary evolution, the Grand Wailea has unveiled a new partnership with the esteemed restaurant brand, Nobu. Set to open in the summer of 2025, Nobu at Grand Wailea will be the first Nobu outlet in the Hawaiian Islands, further enriching the resort’s dining options.
Conceptualized by Rockwell Group, Nobu at Grand Wailea is a significant component of the resort’s extensive $350 million revitalization initiative spearheaded by its owner, Blackstone Real Estate. The new restaurant will be positioned adjacent to Humuhumunukunukuapua’a, which underwent a relaunch in 2023.
“We are thrilled to bring the Nobu dining experience to Wailea Bay,” remarks Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. “The chance to present Nobu’s classic dishes alongside exclusive menu offerings at Grand Wailea is a point of pride, expanding the brand’s footprint in Hawaii alongside a like-minded hotel partner.”
Nobu at Grand Wailea will boast both indoor and outdoor dining venues spreading over 13,000 square feet, including a dedicated sushi bar and stunning views of the ocean. Guests can savor signature dishes like Black Cod with Miso and Yellowtail Jalapeño, alongside the distinguished sushi for which Nobu is celebrated.
Founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro, and Meir Teper three decades ago, Nobu has evolved into a worldwide sensation, now featuring 54 restaurants globally, along with luxury hotels and Nobu Residences. Known for its unique blend of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, exceptional service, and Omakase menus, Nobu continues to draw discerning gourmets from around the world.
“We are excited to introduce the world-renowned Nobu to Grand Wailea,” stated JP Oliver, Area Managing Director of Grand Wailea. “Nobu’s culinary experience will enhance our resort’s offerings, providing extraordinary experiences for our guests.”
