National Hot Dog Day is approaching on July 17, and restaurants worldwide are celebrating by putting a new spin on the traditional hot dog. Chefs from various places like Malibu to London are redefining this popular street food by introducing innovative flavors.
In New York, Nathan’s Famous located in Coney Island is featuring the extravagant “Ultimate Surf and Turf Dog” – a high-quality beef sausage topped with lobster pieces, garlic butter sauce, gold leaf, and caviar. On the other hand, The Rum House in Times Square is offering a grass-fed all beef hot dog in a Martin’s potato bun.
Xanadu in Brooklyn is presenting a Chili Dog with tasty chili, cheese sauce, and jalapeño toppings, while Bar Bastion in Midtown is showcasing ‘The Road Dog’ – a wild boar sausage topped with bacon and onion jam.
LilliStar at Moxy Williamsburg in Brooklyn is introducing ‘The Hot Doggin’ It’ cocktail made with Mezcal, Vermut Blanco, tomato water, and mustard seed agave, paired with a hot dog topped with harissa aioli and red cabbage on a potato bun.
At Bubbles and Dogs in Carbon Beach Club at Malibu Beach Inn, you can enjoy the Bubbles & Dogs special where champagnes are paired with elevated hot dogs during lunch and dinner for $44. One of the options is the luxurious CAVIAR DOG – a bratwurst topped with caviar, chives, and crème fraiche.
In London, Harrods Dining Hall offers ‘Three Darlings and a Dog’ featuring gourmet hot dogs inspired by global classics that change throughout the summer, including limited edition celebrity-endorsed sausages. The proceeds from sales benefit charity.
In Southern California, Dog Haus serves hot dogs on grilled King’s Hawaiian rolls. The ‘Sooo Cali’ hot dog includes a premium Angus beef dog topped with arugula, avocado, crispy onions, and basil aioli, while ‘The Cowboy’ features smoked bacon, cheese sauce, crispy onions, and BBQ sauce on a King’s Hawaiian roll.
