When my three close friends and I gathered to organize a getaway from our children, we yearned for a carefree retreat to help alleviate the mental strain of motherhood. With nine little ones aged 2 to 12 between us, we were worn out and in desperate need of a respite from our daily roles as chauffeurs, chefs, educators, and homemakers. For three nights, we sought indulgence and a break from concerns about routine tasks like swim practice and dinner preparations.
We discovered the ideal solution at Excellence Punta Cana in the breathtaking Dominican Republic. Being an adults-only resort ensured no noisy toddlers interrupted our peaceful days by the beach. The all-inclusive option took away the hassle of calculating bills after each meal and while lounging by the pool. 🥂
Here’s a glimpse into the top three highlights from this incredible all-suite resort, conveniently situated only 50 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport!
1. The Spa 💆♀️
Miilé Spa served as a blissful sanctuary, offering natural treatments, a variety of facials, and massages. My visit commenced with a warm welcome, complete with charming heart-shaped rose petals. The Hydrotherapy Circuit was the standout feature, providing revitalizing hot and cold water therapies that eased my tired muscles.
I began in the sauna, followed by a refreshing cold shower for an invigorating boost, then enjoyed soothing hydro jets before finishing in a cozy relaxation area with heated lounge chairs. The entire experience was heavenly, and I’m already looking forward to returning with my husband for a romantic couples’ massage.
2. The Dinners 🍽️
Forget the typical buffet experience associated with all-inclusive dining. Each dinner was a gourmet journey! Chez Isabelle, the French restaurant, whisked me away to Paris with its exquisite decor and remarkable dishes, such as the cognac-flamed beef tenderloin. The synchronized service—servers presenting our meals in tandem—added an unexpected element of fine dining to the all-inclusive experience.
We also visited Agave, the resort’s Mexican restaurant, which far exceeded our expectations. My experiences there mirrored those I had at Excellence Playa Mujeres, its sister resort in Mexico.
Another highlight was Magna, where I savored a saffron and shrimp Arborio risotto while soaking in breathtaking ocean views. Note: Magna is exclusive to Excellence Club guests!
3. The Excellence Club Beach and Pools 🏖️
Our Excellence Club suite provided access to exclusive pools, including the tranquil Cascade Pool. Imagine this: live violin music, stunning ocean vistas, and prompt drink service while we lounged in comfortable chairs—absolute bliss!
The private beach area accommodated all sun worshippers, with shaded palapas for my light-skinned friend and sunny spots for me. The beach menu featured tasty pizzas and burgers, and I’ve heard that even more delightful options are on the horizon!
