Nestled in the vibrant center of historic Bucharest, just moments away from the National Bank of Romania and surrounded by a wealth of restaurants, museums, and art galleries, the Hilton Garden Inn Bucharest Old Town boasts an excellent location. This seven-story establishment, revitalized by a Lithuania-based group, possesses a rich heritage, having housed various occupants over its 150-year lifespan. It has notably withstood a significant earthquake in 1977, proving its resilience.
After a lengthy journey, my companion and I spent a peaceful evening on the terrace, savoring a bottle of rosé from the Dealu Mare region. The Beef Room, recognized for its impressive meat offerings, also presents a variety of pasta, seafood, and vegetarian options. The enticing aroma of grilled meats influenced my dining partner’s decision to order the rib eye, while I opted for the delicious hamburger.
At breakfast, the Beef Room presents traditional Romanian fare in an inviting atmosphere, decorated with mirrors and vintage portraits. Our first-floor room included a balcony that overlooked the building’s intricate architecture, and hotel manager Irina Semaca took the opportunity to highlight the hotel’s initiatives supporting disadvantaged families and children battling cancer.
With cultural landmarks such as the National Theater and the Museum of Communism within close reach, the hotel serves as a perfect base for visitors. Boasting 201 rooms tailored for both leisure and corporate guests, it features amenities such as a gym, restaurant, meeting spaces, and a business center. Additionally, the hotel engages with local charities, even adorning its Christmas tree with ornaments crafted by children fighting cancer.
