This exceptional 1996 Porsche 993 GT2R stands out with its striking design and is currently available for purchase from German luxury car experts, Schaltkulisse. This particular model is one of only 78 993 GT2Rs ever made and is in superb condition with less than 6000km on the clock.
The 1996 Porsche 993 GT2R featured at Schaltkulisse was originally bought through the Japanese exotic car retailer Art Sports, with its first private owner being Seigo Tanabe. Tanabe, who owns Shelby Asia Inc. in Yokohama, Japan, an authorised importer of Shelby American and high-performance vehicles. If you’re in the market for a top-tier Porsche, this GT2R is a standout option.
During Tanabe’s ownership, the GT2R was not raced competitively but occasionally used for private track events. It was later sold to its first American collector in 2013 and became part of a private collection that included a road-legal 993 GT2 and other notable Porsches. Apart from its appearance at Rennsport Reunion V in September 2015, the GT2R was primarily on display and not actively raced.
With minimal use, the GT2R had only 5,381 km on the odometer in 2022. In that same year, it changed hands once more and is now owned by another collector committed to maintaining its exceptional condition. This owner has engaged a respected Porsche racing team for regular upkeep, ensuring the car remains in pristine shape. The current mileage stands at 5,386 km, a testament to the careful and meticulous care given to this low-mileage GT2R.
