While our focus is usually on vintage cars from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s at The Status Life, every now and then we are captivated by newer additions to the automotive world like this stunning 2005 Ford GT currently offered for sale by German luxury car specialists, Schaltkulisse. The original Ford GT40 is renowned for being one of the most iconic and successful American cars, securing victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans four years in a row. It was only fitting then for Ford to commemorate its motorsport legacy by creating an extraordinary machine that paid homage to the legendary Ford GT40 and marked 100 years of Ford Motor Company.
Unveiled in 2002 as the GT40 concept, the Ford GT went into production towards the end of 2004. Interestingly, all the cars were initially assembled in Ohio before being finished at Ford’s SVT facility in Michigan. The GT was equipped with an aluminum 5.4-liter V8 engine featuring a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger that could deliver 550 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Customers had the option to choose from four features: painted racing stripes, lightweight BBS wheels, red brake calipers, and a McIntosh stereo system. With just over 4,000 units manufactured worldwide, owning one puts you in a select group.
The gorgeous 2005 Ford GT available from Schaltkulisse sports an eye-catching Centennial White exterior with Blue racing stripes and includes three of the four optional features: stereo, racing stripes, and lightweight BBS wheels. Originally located in Missouri, the car was later sold to its previous owner in New York in March 2012 with only 792 miles on the clock. It now has a mere 2225 miles. Priced at €389k, it might be a bit steep for most, but for those with a passion for automotive design and deep pockets, this offering is hard to resist.
