Wanting to change their way of life, Jan and Cynthia van den Maagdenberg, a Dutch couple with an entrepreneurial spirit, sought out their ideal place to live.
They found it in southern France at WAYA a Domaine Saint Domingue, a peaceful retreat near Narbonne in the Aude region, located between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea. The property boasts 12 hectares of Mediterranean gardens and an 8-room boutique hotel exclusively for adults, creating a rustic atmosphere.
Our room, Nr. 6, on the first floor, was spacious and offered French windows with views of the gardens and one of the property’s two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is heated. The room was furnished with tall walnut wardrobes, a hanging wall decoration, woven baskets, floor-to-ceiling curtains, a framed full-length mirror, and a colorful floral woven carpet. The bathroom featured twin wash-hand basins with framed mirrors and a delightful walk-in shower. Slippers and robes were provided.
In addition to the outdoor swimming pools, guests can also enjoy activities such as a pétanque court and complimentary bicycles. The lakeside property includes a library and offers meditation and yoga classes.
WAYA a Domaine Saint Domingue is also available for exclusive rental by groups for personal or professional events and hosts ‘yoga and happiness’ retreats, featuring daily vegetarian meals, massages, and airport transfers.
The hotel’s location allows guests to explore the region’s charming fishing villages, rich history, and lengthy serene beaches. Additionally, there are various activities to engage in, including horseback riding, exploring nearby medieval villages, cycling along the canals, and visiting the fortified city of Carcassonne.
