If you have a thing for unique, quirky, and potentially budget-friendly finds, Collecting Cars, an online auction platform, has just the thing for you – a remarkable 1966 Citroën Ami. This vintage beauty has received a modest bid of £600 so far, making it a potential steal for classic car enthusiasts. The auction is set to conclude in six days.
This particular 1966 Citroën Ami offered by Collecting Cars is a charming and rare French estate car that has undergone previous restoration work, maintaining its impeccable condition despite its age. The car, nicknamed ‘Bagpuss’ by its seller, is equipped with a 602cc air-cooled flat-two engine capable of generating approximately 25bhp. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox.
This Ami6 underwent extensive restoration in the Netherlands between 2007 and 2009, costing around £11,000. It later made its way to the UK, where it was stored in a dry environment for several years before being reconditioned and officially registered with the DVLA in January 2022. The car features an elegant grey exterior with chrome accents, complemented by a red leatherette interior with a black dashboard, body-colored inner doors with grey vinyl inserts, and more chrome trim details.
The Citroën Ami also comes with classy off-white 15-inch steel wheels, adorned with polished hub caps and classic Michelin ZX tires. Its unique design, striking color combination, and practicality make it a standout choice for any collector of French classics, offering a delightful companion for leisurely weekend drives, car shows, and family outings. And with a current bid of only £600, it’s truly a tempting opportunity.
