Few automobiles capture one’s imagination quite like a classic Ferrari, and the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose currently showcased by German luxury car experts Schaltkulisse is a prime example of this allure. A single look at its legendary profile reveals why car enthusiasts hold this grand touring icon in such high regard, considering it one of the most sought-after models in the Prancing Horse’s remarkable lineage.

Manufactured in limited quantities from 1964 to 1966—only 205 units were produced—the 275 GTB Long Nose represents a remarkable period in Italian automotive history. With its gracefully elongated front end, this design was introduced to improve aerodynamics and high-speed stability, instilling a sense of confidence when unleashing its magnificent 3.3-liter V12 engine. More than just a static display piece, the 275 GTB Long Nose was crafted to be driven—and driven enthusiastically.

Chassis 08863, completed in August 1966 and initially delivered to Luigi Chinetti Motors in New York, is one of the most authentic Long Nose iterations available. It retains its factory-correct Rosso Chiaro exterior paired with a Pelle Rossa interior and even boasts handwritten body numbers underneath the carpets—a level of originality that is quite rare. After passing through William F. Harrah’s Modern Classic Motors in Reno, Nevada, it became part of the Jeff Wood family in 1968, where it stayed until 2021. The odometer reading of only 43,230 miles showcases its remarkably well-preserved condition.

Under the care of its current prominent German owner, this 275 GTB underwent careful preservation work at Bacchelli & Villa during 2021 and 2022. The engine, transmission, clutch, and brakes received thorough servicing, while the original paint was restored to its initial color. The chrome elements were re-galvanized, and the cloth centers of the seats were reupholstered, although the leather itself remains original, preserving the history and charm that enthusiasts treasure. Adding to its appeal, chassis 08863 earned a Platinum Award for Best 12 Cylinder Ferrari at the Cavallino Classic in Modena in May 2022, a testament to its exceptional condition.

With full Ferrari Classiche Certification issued in 2022, this matching-numbers engine and gearbox have been validated. Accompanying documentation—including the Massini report, original manuals, tools, and an extensive history of invoices—solidifies this vehicle’s outstanding pedigree. For serious collectors seeking a premier piece for their collection, or for drivers eager to experience the excitement of that renowned V12, this Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose represents a stunning specimen fit for any discerning garage. Schaltkulisse invites interested buyers to their Munich showroom, where this automotive treasure eagerly awaits its next custodian.
