In the world of automotive legends, few vehicles can match the stature of the Land Rover / Range Rover Classic. Commonwealth Classics has elevated this iconic 1988 model, presenting a meticulously restored and customized version of the RRC that harmonizes classic design with contemporary performance. This specific Range Rover, rooted in both British and Italian heritage, has undergone careful revitalization, making it ready to excel on both urban roads and off-road trails.

This vehicle was originally equipped with a 2.5L VM Motori diesel engine from Italy, but it has since been upgraded to a more powerful and performance-oriented UK-manufactured Rover 200Tdi turbo diesel engine. Introduced in 1991, the 200Tdi is celebrated for its strength, dependability, and off-road capability. Commonwealth Classics has enhanced the drivetrain, incorporating a variable geometry turbo and a larger intercooler, significantly boosting performance and allowing this Range Rover to thrive on modern highways—comfortably cruising at 70-75+ mph while providing quick acceleration in urban settings.

On the exterior, this Range Rover Classic has been given a refined backdating makeover. Refinished in a striking Porsche ‘Chalk’ grey, the design pays homage to Land Rover’s vintage models, featuring Suffix-style grilles and badging. The original steel bumpers have been replaced with custom options, and a swing-away carrier has been added to hold the oversized spare tyre. Mounted on colour-matched Wolf steel wheels and fitted with Michelin Defender LTX tyres, this RRC is well-prepared to tackle any terrain, supported by a suspension system upgraded with heavy-duty springs and Old Man Emu shocks.

Inside, the attention to detail is even more impressive. The initial tan and brown interior has been transformed with distressed denim and black leather, establishing a cabin that is both rugged and sophisticated. The factory seats have been reupholstered with distinct stitching that reflects the original design, continuing the theme to the handcrafted door panels, centre console, and cubby box. Luxurious German square weave carpeting adorns the floor, and the matte black headliner introduces a subtle touch of elegance. For those adventurers traveling with pets, a dog cage in the rear and a custom air compressor box enhance functionality.

To increase modern convenience, Commonwealth Classics has upgraded the RRC with a Blaupunkt stereo head unit featuring Bluetooth, USB, and AUX capabilities. The lighting has also been improved, now featuring a warm, halogen-like LED kit that enhances visibility at night while preserving the classic look.

This 1988 Range Rover Classic embodies a perfect fusion of vintage appeal and modern functionality. Whether traversing city streets or navigating rugged backroads, it stands ready to capture attention and embrace any adventure.
