1988 Porsche 959SC Transformed by Canepa up for Auction

Imagine a car priced at over $3 million – that’s exactly what the remarkable 1988 Porsche 959SC redesigned by Canepa is valued at. This stunning vehicle is set to be auctioned off at RM Sotheby’s in Miami, with an estimated price range of $3-3.5 million. It’s a revamped version of Porsche’s 959 supercar, making it a highly sought-after piece for deep-pocketed bidders.

This particular 1988 Porsche 959SC, customized by Canepa Motorsports, is the third of its kind crafted by the renowned Porsche specialist. The premium price tag is justified by the exceptional upgrades it boasts. The car features a unique Emerald Green exterior with Dark Green leather interior and is equipped with an enhanced 825-hp, 2.85-liter, twin-turbocharged flat six-cylinder engine.

Bruce Canepa, a well-known figure in the world of Porsche customization, leads Canepa Motorsports and is recognized for his unmatched expertise with the Porsche 959 in North America. His close association with this iconic vehicle traces back to 1987 when he had the privilege of experiencing a Porsche 959 firsthand. Notably, prominent figures like Microsoft co-founders Paul Allen and Bill Gates acquired Porsche 959s through Canepa following their encounters with the car owned by Allen.

Originally one of the earliest 207 “Komfort” models, this 1988 Porsche 959 was initially adorned in Silver Metallic with standard grey leather interior before being delivered to Monte Carlo. After residing in a private museum in Tokyo following its sale to Japan, the vehicle made its way to the United States in September 2016. If you happen to have a spare $3 million, you might just be the fortunate bidder for this exceptional piece.
