In the past, we’ve showcased various classic cars, but the Swallow Doretti is a new addition that caught our attention. The 1954 Swallow Doretti, set to be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island event, has a charmingly retro feel reminiscent of the Don Draper era, making it a standout piece.

This 1954 Swallow Doretti from RM Sotheby’s will be up for grabs without a set price, offering a chance for a good deal. With its classic mid-century design, this car is likely to appeal to classic car enthusiasts and collectors. Being the 208th out of only 276 Swallow Doretti sports cars produced between 1954 and 1955, owning this piece would mean joining an exclusive group.

    Mid Century Marvel

This 1954 Swallow Doretti in black with dark red accents exudes a timeless, classic charm and remarkably remains in excellent condition for its age. With its 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, and right-hand drive, this gem from RM Sotheby’s was originally delivered to Glasgow, Scotland, adding to its historical allure.

This award-winning 1954 Swallow Doretti is expected to stir up significant interest at RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island auction due to its frame-off restoration resulting in impeccable condition, making it a sought-after addition for luxury and classic car collectors.

Designed by Frank Rainbow, the Swallow Doretti drew inspiration from stylish Italian cars of the era like the Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta, with a name aimed at appealing to the American market. With only 276 models ever built, the Doretti stands out as a rare find on the roads today.

    Built For Performance

Equipped with its original TR2 inline-four-cylinder engine and dual side-draft SU carburetors, matched with a four-speed manual transmission, this Doretti boasts authentic components that set it apart from its Triumph counterpart. Notable features include the aluminum bodywork, tubular chassis, distinctive bumper bolts, Doretti hub caps, rear pebble deflectors, and polished steel cabin sills.

This stunning 1954 Swallow Doretti from RM Sotheby’s comes with a historical file, tool kit, awards from competitions, period literature, automobilia, and a photo journal detailing its restoration in 1999. Considering the limited production of this model, it is expected to attract significant attention when it hits the auction block later this year.
