Coming up in a couple of weeks are the Monterey 2022 auctions where an exceptional selection of automobiles will be featured. Among the outstanding vehicles on the auction block is a 1936 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante, a highly sought-after prize for car enthusiasts.

Having only 17 models believed to have been produced, this vintage vehicle boasts a design that exudes pure art deco elegance from every angle. RM Sotheby’s will be overseeing its sale as one of the highlighted lots at their St. Moritz event on September 9.

Insiders have disclosed that this vehicle will be sharing the spotlight with other iconic classics. The lineup includes a black 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL and a silver 1965 Aston Martin DB Vantage, both seeking new owners. However, all eyes are set on the standout piece, the 1936 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante.

Designed by Jean Bugatti, the son of the brand’s founder, this model features striking curves and a powertrain that was ahead of its time. Its 3.3-liter inline-eight engine, producing 160 horsepower, enables the 1936 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante to reach a top speed of 120 mph. The exterior is adorned with a two-tone paint scheme, predominantly in gloss black with a red French curve along the sides, complemented by chrome accents.

Inside the coupe, wooden elements can be seen on the dashboard and steering wheel, enhancing its classic appeal. RM Sotheby’s has yet to release further details about this remarkable vehicle.
