Review of Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

The Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and Spa, situated in a central location, provides a luxurious getaway for those visiting Honolulu on Oahu Island.

Formerly the site of the summer residences of Hawaiian royalty, the resort pays homage to its history by offering various indoor and outdoor spaces designed for guests to come together in the spirit of joy and hospitality, reflecting the Queen’s belief in Hawaiian hospitality.

Following an impressive $80 million renovation, the resort boasts a stunning one-acre pool deck overlooking Waikiki Beach, providing panoramic ocean views. This expansive deck is one of the largest entertainment areas on the island and features two heated swimming pools and jetted hot whirlpools, catering to families as well as adults above 18 years old.

The resort’s 1,310 revamped guest rooms and suites all come with a private balcony and Marriott’s Revive Bedding Collection, offering a blend of cool blue tones and white ship lap-painted wood walls, giving a relaxed and luxurious classic Hawaiian ambiance.

The suites range from junior suites with sweeping city and ocean views to spacious penthouse suites. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto an inviting outdoor sitting area, allowing guests to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Waikiki Beach from above.

As night falls, guests can witness the mesmerizing Hawaiian fire dancer perform a ceremonial sunset show. Visitors can gather around the two fire pit areas and elevated terrace to watch the sun setting into the Pacific Ocean.

Queensbreak Waikiki offers a twice-daily happy hour, recognized as the Best New Restaurant and New Outdoor Dining spot in 2022 by Honolulu Magazines. Guests can partake in this offering from 1 to 2 p.m. and again from 5 to 6 p.m., on a first-come, first-served basis.

The resort’s hidden gem, Queensbreak, perched high above Waikiki Beach, offers an open-air dining concept paying tribute to Queen Liliuokalani. Live evening entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. as diners relish a menu featuring items like mushroom flatbread, grilled local fish, a Wagyu burger, and Huli Huli chicken.

Additionally, guests can explore various dining options on-site, such as Kuhio Beach Grill, d.k Steak House, Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar, and Arancino di Mare, with two Starbucks locations, one in the Kealohilani Tower and the other in the Paoakalani Tower.

The resort offers a range of activities, including Paint Escape in the Mohala Garden, Barre, Hula, and Lei making on the Queensbreak Lawn, cocktail and shaved ice-making classes, and a Hawaiian-style fire show at the Paoakalani Pool. In the evenings, guests can enjoy a ‘Dive in Movie’ experience on the Queensbreak Lawn.

Positioned across from a sheltered rock breakwater, guests can access a tranquil swimming beach that adds to the allure of one of the most sought-after hotels along Waikiki Beach.
