Understanding Travel Services with Overseas Network and Qatar Airways at FIFA 2022

With Qatar Airways expanding its connectivity to various cities in the U.S., Overseas Network has established an office in Qatar to develop authentic cultural experiences for visitors attending the FIFA World Cup. The tournament, set to attract over 1.3 million visitors from 14 countries in November 2022, will feature matches in eight world-class stadiums inspired by Arabian culture.

Two notable stadium designs include the Al Janoub stadium, inspired by Dhow boats, and the Al Thumama stadium, resembling the traditional Arab men’s cap called the gahfiya. Post the FIFA World Cup, the capacity of Al Thumama stadium will be reduced and seats donated to countries in need of sporting infrastructure.

To enhance customer service for U.S. fans purchasing travel packages, Overseas Network has dedicated customer service teams in place. This partnership between Overseas Network and Qatar Airways aims to promote the FIFA World Cup as a platform for fostering cross-cultural awareness through a range of exclusive cultural experiences.

These experiences include luxury pearl fishing, desert camp excursions, tours of Education City, desert soccer matches, and meet-and-greet sessions with professional players. Additionally, retired MLS player Luis Robles serves as the athlete brand ambassador for Overseas Network and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 program.

As one of the first U.S.-based travel companies in Qatar, Overseas Network acts as a cultural concierge and travel planner for international visitors, fostering a deeper understanding of Qatari culture and traditions. Brambilla sees the collaboration with Qatar Airways as an opportunity to bridge cultural gaps and promote education and enrichment through travel experiences.
