In 1961, Jaguar’s founder, Sir William Lyons, introduced the E-type ‘9600HP’ to the media at the Parc des Eaux Vives, Geneva.
Jaguar is gearing up to honor the 60th anniversary of its legendary E-Type sports car by crafting six sets of 3.8-liter cars. These Exclusive E-Type 60 Edition vehicles, constructed at Jaguar Classic Works in Warwickshire, will involve a complete restoration of existing 1960s 3.8-liter E-Types, painted in Flat Out Grey or Drop Everything Green. These colors pay homage to the original cars showcased in Geneva, Switzerland, in March 1961. Each of the 12 cars will incorporate design elements celebrating the 60th anniversary.
Dan Pink, Director of Jaguar Classic, stated, “The Jaguar E-type is a true icon, captivating today as much as it did when it debuted in 1961. It’s a testament to the E-type’s innovative design and engineering that it continues to be cherished almost 60 years later.” He added, “The E-type 60 Collection is a timeless tribute for E-type enthusiasts, recognizing the car’s heritage and the accomplishments of the team behind it – many of whom now have descendants working at Jaguar Classic, skillfully restoring, upkeeping, and ensuring pleasure for generations to come.”
Jaguar has secured the 12 donor vehicles and is now accepting orders for the E-Type 60 Collection. While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, it is speculated that the set could be priced around £650,000 (approximately $850,000 USD).
