Alfa Romeo fans could soon see a big change as car manufacturers move towards electric vehicles following their electrification plans, making traditional engines a thing of the past.
This makes current petrol vehicles valuable to collectors. The upcoming Giulia EV lineup is set to offer a wide range of options to cater to different preferences.
The platform likely to be used is Stellantis Group’s STLA Large, known for its versatility in accommodating various battery and motor setups to provide a range of up to 500 miles on a single charge.
While details are not final, Alfa Romeo is teasing three trims, each offering significant performance upgrades as you go up the ladder.
The base model is said to deliver 350 horsepower, with the Veloce version upping the ante to 800 horses.
At the top end is the Giulia Quadrifoglio, anticipated to push out around 1,000 horsepower or even more. With about two years until the official release, these figures could still change.
Alfa Romeo’s sister brand Maserati is also working on a high-performance electric vehicle, the Granturismo Folgore, leading to speculation that Alfa Romeo might adopt a similar three-motor setup.
This setup is speculated to involve one motor for the front axle and two for each rear wheel, potentially featuring torque vectoring technology.
Recognizing the importance of charging times for consumers, Alfa Romeo has decided to equip the Giulia EV with an 800V system that allows for rapid recharging of the batteries.
The manufacturer also seems to have more environmentally friendly models in the pipeline, although specific details have not been revealed.
