Nestled in the coveted ‘Narrows’ of the Bahamas, The Beacon Hill Estate is a sumptuous two-and-a-half-acre waterfront haven graced by its own private beach. With a rich heritage dating back to the 1920’s and meticulously renovated over three years ending in late 2023, this property resides amidst lush tropical greenery mere moments away from the Pink Sands beach. Accessed via a scenic sandy lane, bordered by majestic coconut palms, this estate claims a premier location on Harbour Island, offering a sanctuary to relax and luxuriate.
Far removed from the small but bustling town, the estate exudes colonial-style design and decor, celebrating the natural environment and outdoor living. Unrestricted vistas stretch across the west bayside of Harbour Island, offering some of the most breathtaking sunsets imaginable.
Spanning 12,000 sq. ft. of Island-style architecture, the private sanctuary comprises five distinct structures (main house, guest house, separate master suite, pool house and dock house) and boasts 300 ft of bay side waterfront. The Beacon Hill Estate’s Bahamian authenticity has been revived, elevating it to meet the expectations of modern connoisseurs, following its previous ownership by Regine, the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of the Night’. The property hosts five king suites, one queen room, nine bathrooms and is complemented by three kitchens, two bars and a gym—ideal for various group gatherings.
Past the entrance guarded by two magnificent white stone frogs, a drive through oversized pandanus and lush trees leads you into this paradisiacal retreat. Access to the main house is granted via a bridge spanning a colossal aquarium, creating an almost moat-like entrance. Surrounded by flourishing gardens and expansive turquoise waters, the main house is approximately 5,000 sq. ft. and welcomes guests with an open floor plan, which embraces island breezes through doors opening to the 80 foot long west veranda and east.
“Our aim when designing The Beacon Hill Estate was to seamlessly blend modern amenities with Bahamian charm, much of the inspiration was derived from the Pink Sands Hotel when I first visited Harbour Island in the late 1990’s,” said owner/architect Lawrence Dawson.
The separate but linked master suite bedroom suite is large and features a grand spa bathroom adorned in floor-to-ceiling marble. The bedroom itself is exceptionally generous and leads out to the private veranda aka “snor-a-torium” as it’s affectionally known.
A detached guest house perched high amidst the gardens boasts a beautiful veranda offering panoramic views and a serene escape. Adjacent to the main house, it offers two oversized suites, planter-style armchairs and mahogany louvers. Along the southern expanse of the property, the pool house commands stunning views over the bayside and there a large heated and ‘cooled pool’ for sipping a cocktail as the sun goes down. Here, beneath gently swaying palm trees, guests can recline on poolside beds and immerse themselves in a dreamy, ethereal ambiance. Equipped with full kitchen amenities, a well-stocked bar, and ample seating, the pool house sets the stage for poolside revelry and evening gatherings.
A distinctive feature of the estate is The Pink Gazebo, an iconic landmark on Harbour Island. Perched atop a hill, it offers a serene space for contemplation or observing dolphins and manatees playing in the bay. Steps from this serene spot lead down to the private dock, dock house, on the water terrace and the private beach.
While privacy reigns supreme on the estate, Dunmore Town is merely a four-minute golf cart ride away, bustling with bars, restaurants, and shops. Accessing Beacon Hill is a seamless experience as flights land at Eleuthera North Airport (just one hour from Miami by plane), followed by a 10 minute transfer via water taxi to The Beacon Hill Estate’s private dock.
